UNITED FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ASSOCIATIONS (U4WDA)

Luana Schneider, May 2004:

The meeting will be held in Hershey/Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with wheelin’ planned beforehand at Paragon Adventure Park and Rausch Creek Off-Road Park. The schedule shows July 2-July 5 at the two parks with Fireworks at the Campgrounds near Paragon Adventure Park. July 6 through the 8 will be touristy things such as Hershey Park, Amish Country, Gettysburg, Harley Davidson Tour. Not sure about a Land Use Conference and also the DC Fly In. July 8 through the 10 will be the United Board of Director’s Meeting/Delegates Caucus/General Session. July 9 and Evening Cookout/Pig Roast and Saturday, July 10 an evening banquet/Raffle prize giveaway.

DC Fly-in has been postponed until very likely the Spring of 2005. This is due to elections this year and just not enough time to get a good job done.

Brian Hawthorne, Vice President of United, has been hired by Blue Ribbon Coalition as Land Use Director. Therefore, Brian will be stepping down. There will an election at the July meeting for the balance of his term of one year. At that same meeting there will be two-year term elections held for President, Secretary, Director of Environmental Affairs, Director of Public Relations, and Director of Membership. Anyone interested in being a nominee needs to submit nomination papers at least 60 days before the election which will be held July 10.

Carla Boucher is working on an insurance program that will be through United. The program is not solidified as of yet and she is currently looking at input from the delegates on this issue. I have brought up many points of concern for both Midwest and Wisconsin Associations and have sent info to both Associations’ presidents to discuss with their boards and get back to Candy Meier or I. I have not received any feedback as of yet.

U4WDA and BRC have taken a United stand on the Federal OHV Policy that is being reviewed. They have just recently sent a joint letter to the National Forest Chief in DC of their concerns. They will be keeping a close eye on this for all of us.
